Who I am
I’m 28 years old and live in Copenhagen with my wonderful boyfriend Lasse. I work as a selfemployed hairdresser. It’s a job that often involves long hours on my feet, which can be challenging on a diet because I tend to hold water in my legs. I also have to be customer friendly, do a good job with the hairstyles and generally be an energy bundle! Which as you probably can tell can be pretty tough at the end of a diet when carbs are low, but I keep my head high and think I’m doing a good job :-)
I love my job and I have some awesome colleagues who support me 100% in everything I do. I also have a wonderful family, boyfriend, friends and coach who support me and that means the world to me.
Competing
I have always been very active in sports: handball, dancing and judo are some of the things I’ve been involved in prior to weight training. I’ve always been very competitive. I never give up before I’ve done my very best and I always go for first place no matter what :-)
I have been weight training seriously since 2006 and competed in my first bodyfitness competition in 2007; The Danish Nationals where I placed 1st. Since then I’ve been competing in Norway, Sweden and Denmark in various competitions.
My goal is to go as far as my physique can take me. If its the Scandinavian, European or World Championships or something else I don’t know. I’m a person who needs to take one thing at a time and focus on that.
I love to be on stage, I love the final week leading up to a competition and I love talking to my coach Helle to hear her crazy ideas for my training and diet :-)
I just love the whole process and all the challenges and joys it brings me. Going through a competition preparation is a line I have to cross each time; it brings me a rush I can’t describe.. when I’m standing on stage and feeling so happy and content with my work then I feel that I can handle everything!
Do it!
To all the new girls who are thinking about competing… Do it do it do it… Don’t get scared of how hard everybody says it is.. it is hard.. but it’s awesome! …imagine you’ve spent all these hours in the gym then you start up a diet and suddenly you can see everything you’ve built… everything you’ve busted your butt for… it’s amazing… and best of all… you get even more motivated to go to the gym and get even better!
The best thing I know on a diet is when…
The best thing I know on a diet is when my coach Helle calls me and says: “Lene you’ve got a cheat day” …wiieeee then I’m running out the door to find the nearest supermarket to buy candy, cakes, chips, wine etc etc… when it gets to evening then… “Hmmm I have totally forgot to buy dinner…” …never mind… I’ll just open another bag of chips… yum yum… I’ve got a weakness for sweets and I’m terribly in love with food ha ha… but aren’t all athletes! :-)
